![]() You can’t make out the distinct features on the units. When zoomed in the texture graphics looked muddled and unrefined. Zoomed out the graphics look pleasant to look at with the nice landscape and the shadows falling on the units. The graphics in Rise of Legends is a mixed bag. You have to micromanagement the units to make sure they are attacking in a battle. ![]() The units seem to have a very short line of sight. An enemy could be attacking a building right next to them and they won’t respond. The AI for the units lacks a bit of polish. Of course it will take a lot of musketeers to take down a hero unit because of the difference in health, but it difficult to point out one weakness a unit has. There doesn’t seem that the units have one particular weakness over another. For example there is no difference if you send one group of musketeers or one cog robot to take over a city. In terms of fighting strategy, I find that there is a lack of distinctness for the units. The Sentinels, the Cutol basic unit are armed with lances that can fire out energy beams.Īll the units have three heroes that can summon at any time as long you the required resources. The Cuotl is based on Mayan culture but their technology looks like it came out from an episode of Stargate SG-1. The Alin with their Aladdin inspired magic have sword wielding dessert walkers, dragons and scorpions. The Vinci have their units based on steam punk Leonardo da Vinci technology, which consist of musketeers, steamed powered tanks and cog robots. The Cuotl cannot trade with neutral sites instead they can subjugate the neutral units or out right attack them. You can sway the neutral cities to your side in three ways: the use of caravans, buying the city or attacking and invading it. On the maps there are neutral cities where Vinci and Alin can trade. The Cuotl must build power stations in order to grow. Cuotl doesn’t have the wealth resource but instead have power. ![]() The Vinci and Alin have the second resource called wealth, which they can gather through trade with other cities. The resources of all the races must mine for Timonium crystals in order to create units and buildings. Unlike Rise of Nations, there are no Wonders that can give you bonuses. For example, if you want to build a mining station next to Timonium, you select the mining station icon and place the building next to the resource. Building units is a streamlined process there are no builder units to select. District buildings must be built adjunction to each other The military buildings like barracks, factories and airports allows you to build anywhere within your national borders. The cities consist cluster of districts where you can get upgrades for your units. The buildings in the game are broken down to two different types. Instead of dealing with a dozen of nations, this game deals with 3 unique races – the Vinci (Technology), Alin (Magic) and Cuotl (Religion). Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends is a follow up to the Rise of Nations series. ![]()
